CUCKOLD: What Is It?

CUCKOLD: What Is It? Header by Vanessa Theodore for SEX+ - July 3, 2026

Hello Readers!

Hope you are all well! I’ve got a fascinating topic today: cuckoldingwhat the hell is it?!

Sit tight, because there is so much misinformation out there these days. It has honestly gotten to the point where I want to hand out dictionaries. Apparently, some people don't understand that words have actual meanings, and we can’t just go around spreading false info.

This is the first of a series of articles I’ll be doing on this topic and its counterparts, including cuckqueen, cuckcake, bull, stag, vixen, and hotwife.

The term, "cuckold,” originates from the cuckoo bird and its behavior during nesting season. The female cuckoo lays her eggs in the nests of other bird species, leaving the unsuspecting foster parents to hatch and raise her young.

Historically speaking, the word was used as an insult for a man whose wife was unfaithful, resulting in him raising children that weren't biologically his. Back then, society assumed this happened because he couldn't sexually satisfy his wife.

Today, cuckolding has evolved into a recognized, consensual relationship dynamic and kink.

In a modern cuckold relationship, one partner (historically the husband) derives sexual pleasure from their spouse (historically the wife) being intimate with another person (the bull). While it is a very common male kink enjoyed by married heterosexual couples, it spans all kinds of relationships.

And let's clear something up: it’s not just a thing in porn; it’s very real.

Many people tend to make snarky statements about people who live this lifestyle. I can understand being initially confused about why a couple would choose to share a spouse sexually. But here is the reality:

It’s totally fine to be curious. What’s not okay is people throwing judgements left and right on a situation that doesn’t involve anyone outside of the couple's agreement.

Personally? It’s not a lifestyle I want to partake in, and it's not my husband’s thing either. However, we actually enjoy real amateur cuckold porn because it’s a total turn-on. We get the, "why,” aspect of it. Could we go through with it ourselves in real life? Probably not!

What outsiders fail to realize is that these couples have extensive conversations. They set strict boundaries, make rules, and obey them. Cuckold marriages are not cheating. If it’s something the couple discussed and agreed upon, it is consensual kink. In fact, anything outside of what was agreed upon is what constitutes cheating.

So, when you are asking questions or talking about it for shits and giggles with your friends, use the correct vocabulary and be respectful. It’s pretty simple.

Are you a married couple that lives the lifestyle?  Are you a married couple interested in becoming part of the lifestyle?  Leave us a comment below!!
