There are legal consequences of transmitting STDs whether it was intentional or not.  

In most states, it is considered illegal and can result in criminal charges, as many jurisdictions will have laws in place that criminalize the intentional or reckless transmission of sexually transmitted diseases.  But this will depend on the circumstances as this could be considered a misdemeanor or felony offense.
